ZDS EP

Zombie Disco Squad are our favorite thing to come out of the UK since salt and vinegar flavored crisps. Nathaniel and Lucas have consistently put out quality from the get go. Now they’re bombarding us with a new EP, it’s called “Trumpets & Tom Toms EP” and features the three bangers “Vie”, Hit Me With […]

Muevete (Roche remix)

CB Radio is one of my favorite bands and every time I manage to get something new from them I’m happy like a little child. This time I got a remix of the first track we ever posted by them on Discobelle. So I guess I can recycle what I wrote back then.
CB Radio has […]

The Presets

The Presets - “Talk Like That” (YouTube)
During his recent interview on BIGSTEREO, K.I.M. mentioned the video for “Talk Like That” directed by Jonas & François (who also did the “D.A.N.C.E” video) — well, here it is. Watch a creepy Presets’ fangirl dance around and destroy their instruments. Who hasn’t been there? Kinda brilliant.

What Happened To That Boy?

DJ Amphibous (from the Flavorheard crew) takes on a classic and near perfect Neptunes produced track, the Baby/Clipse anthem “What Happened To That Boy?”. He chops away most of the vocals, adds a killer bassline along with some extra boom to make this into something really fresh.

Adrian Lux is the newest addition to the ever expanding roster of the movement known as La Vida Locash. Our brethren up in Stockholm got their tentacles into so much great stuff and this doesn’t disappoint, sweet house music. Adrian Lux has been described as the new Pryda, we don’t know about that but we […]

The Laughing Light of Plenty

I need (need) to share a song with you that is so easily on my top ten list of favorite songs of the year — if not decade. And no, that’s not a hyperbole. “The Rose” is epic. This builds up to the most fabulous break. I imagine it being like three am and the […]

Plimosuls mega post

British wonderkid producer Matt Plimsouls brought these three tracks to our attention and since we think all the tracks he churns out are incredible there was no question that it was time for a Plimsouls mega post.
Here’s what Matt wrote: “The originals were for a label, but they’re taking their time so I’m sending […]

Runaway

I expressed my ode to Cosmo Vitelli’s Cliché record label a couple of weeks back. Cliché are doing some releases of New York’s duo of Marcos Cabral and Jacques Renault also known as Runaway. Cosmo is definitely on the money.

PICTURES FROM COMICON 2008!

I've been at Comicon since Friday afternoon and really haven't had a moment to post anything. We're essentially on the run from the moment we wake up until we're in bed - on couch rather. Since I don't have enough time to do a full post at the moment I'm going to post a few pictures of what I've been seeing at one of the largest comic book conventions in the entire world. This year 165,000 people came out, rendering the convention center a madhouse everywhere you go. It's packed to the brim with people and some of the panels have wait times in excess of an hour, but the lines make for some great eye candy. We did, luckily, make it into the Lost panel this morning, followed by the Terminator panel which floored everyone after premiering an amazing new trailer. After that we split up and I spent the latter half of the day jumping around to various panels (Lloyd Kaufman twice!), then watched a Darkon battle and set up an interview with a few of the fighters for tomorrow afternoon. Anyways, we are taking off again so I'm just going to skip to the pictures.

Darkon! (Stay posted for a darkon interview)

Look closely and you'll see Heath Ledgers name written in the shield.

I don't know who he is dressed as, but he's not alone.

Invasion

My most favorite part about Invasion is their drummer looks like he’s never missed Ozzfest. And no sarcasm html tags needed… for real. It’s the energetic frontwoman who pushes this track to the top of my playlist though… Chan is like a Tina Turner for the twothousandtens.
Invasion’s debut album is being produced by James Shaw […]

Bangers & Cash (The Chimney Climbers remix)

Bangers & Cash AKA Naeem from Spank Rock and Benny Blanco will take their dirty, bootyshaking joints to Europe for an official release on this side of the water. They hooked up with some new remixers thus The Chimney Climbers got their hands on “Bitch”.

Ludachrist: ‘Ghost Busta Rhymes’ from ‘Bangfest’ mix

With the recent release of Girl Talk, I’ve been thinking about the mash-up. Girl Talk with his mass of bloghype, was quite a disappointment (wait, can one be disappointed if one has no expectations?) Considering the mash-up, I’m trying to realize the good and the bad. Ignoring the bad, let’s reflect on the good.

Mixes Galore

We’ve been swamped with mixes here at Discobelle so I had to throw together this post and compile some of them.
First, we have a bassline/house/rave mix + a track from Venom & Damage that Alex Bok Bok gave out to the good folks at Grindin.

NEEEEEERRRRRRRRDDDDDDZZZZZZZ

dude…i am in the native habitat of the nerds.  i am blogging in a crowd of 6,000, i am one of them.  i sat in 4 hours of traffic to be here.  i am really hungover right now, but i'm getting ahead of myself.  i can't pretend like i'm not interested, because the room that i'm sitting in right now should give me some answers about lost (i'm obsessed, like really really obsessed) at a panel tomorrow.  we got here too late yesterday to do much more than walk around and marvel (pun intended) at the awesome, wonderful, beautiful nerds.  btw, i'm at comic con.  i guess i should mention that.last night we went to a party for the g4 network.  it was very lamez because we missed the free alcohol.  eventually we went to our friend juliana's friend's house and i drank about 500 beers and then had to wake up 3 hours later.  i am tired and i feel like shit.today i am watching a panel about a movie/comic called 'the watchmen' and it is apparently a big deal.  or so i have been told.so far i like the people in costumes best.  there is a stormtrooper/elvis impersonator.  there is a lot of almost cute goth girls in various states of dress up/undress.everyone is looking at me like i'm a nerd because i'm blogging.i just opened a link that rod forx posted and it had a nsfw image and now everyone thinks i'm a pervert AND a nerd.  great.anyway, more later.love, greg

Diplo vs Santogold mixtape

Diplo does sort of a followup to his “Piracy Funds Terrorism” mixtape that he did with M.I.A but this time with NYC singstress Santogold. It’s called “Top Ranking” and is packed with exclusive and unreleased jams, it’s well executed as always and the mixtape will rotate in our stereos this weekend for sure.

Sebastien Tellier: ‘Sexuality’ sold exclusively at American Apparel

Parisian electro-popstar Sébastien Tellier is sexually charged. We’ve been amp’d up for the stateside release of Tellier’s third studio album, ‘Sexuality’, for months now. You’ll remember that the record is produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk fame. Well now we have it, Record Makers have given us something special for our eager hands…

Friendly Fires

I was just sitting around wondering out loud, “Whatever happened to Friendly Fires? I super loved their first couple eps/single.” So I jumped on the MySpace, and sure enough their debut album is right around the corner. Good news.
That said, I’m not sure I am totally sold on “Jump In The Pool”… it’s kinda […]
