The Real Heat

It’s The Money Shot recently posted up a cover of The Teenager’s “Love No” by The Real Heat and pondered why the Real Heat hasn’t gotten the blog love that they deserve. Perhaps because bloggers are lazy and The Real Heat hasn’t been filling up inboxes? Excuses, excuses… I’ve had them on my to-do list […]

Dani Deahl: Brodown Mix & Jochim Garraud ‘The Sound of Disco’ Remix with Mike Gillenwater

Chicago’s Dani Deahl is good—Real good. It’s a safe bet to call her a staple of the current Chicago house scene, with a penchant for the electro variety. She is DJ, producer, journalist for Urb (sometimes BPM), and now record-exec. at freshly launched Strictly Rhythm sub-label, Calamity Jane Recordings.
…But resumes are so impersonal, if you […]

True Pseudo: ‘Flashbacks’, ‘Eletone’, ‘On the Rox’, ‘Freaking Me Out’ & remixes of CSS, Arcade Fire & Klaxons

If you haven’t met before, give a pound to True Pseudo. These are some brothers from good stock—more L.A. based drum & bass converts that fall closely in line with the immense musical talent of friends and associates, Villains, LA Riots & After Midnight. Welcome to the gifted class, True Pseudo, the new class clown […]

Jupiter

Jupiter may look like marble fudge ice cream or your kitchen counter, but it sounds like lazers and actually alot like Annie.

The group is comprised of Q & A. Q is the boy and A is the girl. A's favorite ice cream is bitter chocolate and Q's is anything unusual like curry or gingerbread. They're from Paris, but are currently being productive in London. From the looks of their one real myspace photo they perform live with synths and a little vintage disco magic. We've got one original track and one cover of Patrick Juvet's 'I Love America'…with the promise of more music to come soon.

He? She? its disco, i guess it's irrelevant….

EN MASSE::

EN MASSE is the project of recently introduced, Supabeatz (Comix, 5/25) and his mate, Meno, who happens to be another badass from Italy. En Masse fuses elements of minimal techno, blog house, and heavy bass to a result of a banging club sound.

En Masse - Backbone
En Masse - Soda

The En Masse EP is available on Hypotron via Beatport.

BMX

Our buddy Travis who writes for the excellent blog Big Stereo swears by this band and passed on the word about them to us. The fun loving Australian quartet BMX has gone over well with the blogs recently with their catchy party/pop music. Music for when you’re hanging out with your friends and the ladies […]

Kid Filthy

These tunes just landed in the inbox. I think I wouldn’t of taken much notice of Kid Filthy if I didn’t see his remix of Foals. I’ve been waiting for Foals to come to Australia for too long now. Kid Filthy’s take is quite good.

Foals - “Electric Bloom” (Kid Filthy Remix)

We Make It Good Vol. 2 - Chris Devlin

Chris Devlin is one of the dj’s in Spank Rock and when he’s not busy touring the world and causing mischief, he puts together funky and soulful mixes like this one for Shilos “We Make It Good” mix series. Another excellent effort that is perfect in this summer weather which makes Sweden feel like the […]

His Majesty Andre

Over the course of this past year I've seen some of my favorite artists go from unkowns to major players in the industry (Yuksek, Curses!, TEPR, Brodinski, Treasure Fingers, Crookers). And according to Italy, His Majesty Andre is next in line to inherit the title of 'Next Big Thing to Come Out of Italy'. Not only is he in cahoots with Bloody Beetroots, Crookers and Congorock, but his production styles are very versatile. The tracks sent to me range from heavy distortion to house to disco…..

Well i love Italy for the risotto and gelato and shopping and resort lakes….now I can add His Majesty Andre to the list….

His Majesty Andre - Music Non-Stop

His Majesty Andre - Hold Tight

His Majesty Andre - GIRRRL

Frankmusik

If you can get past the London style and the risque pictures, you can see just how talented Frankmusik is. He's been peppered on major blogs over the past year, but nothing has really caught my ear until i heard his vocals on the Acid Girls as-of-yet-unreleased track, Palms (it's amazing…might just make your jaw drop). Then this dropped in my gmail to promote the release of his debut single "In Step", which will be released digitally & on limited 7" vinyl.

He also recently got signed to Universal/Island who are prepared to push him into pop-stardum. Well, with a voice like that, he won't need much help.

SQZMYLMNS

Sure we all know mexicans are good at making chorizo tortas. We know they host a mean spring break vacation. Maybe you didn't know that Mexico is also cultivating a crazy dance music scene.

SQZMYLMNS are just one new example of mexicans making good music. Saul Q and Kid Wonder hail from my hometown of San Diego, which tends to fly under the radar. So I'm excited to hear something exciting coming out of there. I love that the tracks aren't just distorted or just filtered or just heavily sampled….they mix it all up into a nice batch of freshly squeezed lemonade…….*sip*….AHHHHH.

SQZMYLMNS - Run

SQZMYLMNS - Oakland

FrankMusik

Checking in with FrankMusik: He just finished up the Wonky Tour in the UK, been busy in the studio with the likes of Jaques lu Cont and is gearing up to release his new single “In Step” (see first video below).

“Done Done” is another new track done by FrankMusik that showcases a bit of a […]

Radioactive Man - Starkey remix

Starkey is THE bass pioneer over in Philly and now he’s heading across the pond to Europe for a few select dates in London, Rotterdam and Dublin. Check him at Fabric tonight together with Toddla T, Ghislain Poirier and Patchwork Pirates. We got his remix of the Radioactive Man track “State Of That” to get […]

Start The Violence!

Krames is back with his “Start The Violence!” project. A couple of weeks ago we posted a track he did with Rye Rye and a mixtape sampler he did for NAME Ribbon . Now he delivers two more bangerz.
This is the way his sidekick Nick the Duke describes STV!
“Start The Violence! is a project […]

Mixin it up: Mike B

Friday and we are Mixin’ it up again! Over to Mike B:
(thee) Mike B has been collecting records since the late 80’s and djing clubs since the late 90’s. Originally from Los Angeles, his DJ career began in NYC with residencies at the now legendary Limelight and Twilo nightclubs. He was out there playing everything […]

MORGAN LOUIS:: Forever

MORGAN LOUIS is in every imaginable way, the personification Le Knight Club’s “Mirage” (Cryda 003). He’s a magnificent individual with a connoisseur’s taste for disco, house, and techno.

By day, the superhero Morgan Louis designs the music gear you want and by night he gives dancers what they need, and after last call, well that’s between Morgan and the ladies. - He’s a member of Lovelife Collective and a resident at Hearthrob, because as the legend says, “[he] can.”

Never one to rush pleasure, this mix took a long time and the effect is, pure unadulterated ecstasy. Don’t mind the track list, this is about the experience, the trip, if you will. And if I may and I know I might: I truly, from heart, recommend this Mix.

Don Rimini - new mix

We here at Discobelle are long time fans of French producer Don Rimini, he’s given us quite a few mighty tracks, remixes and mixes so when he dropped a new mix we’re more than happy to oblige with a post. The Don is playing the Ditch It All party at 333 in London this saturday […]

Edu K

Brazil is my favorite country right now… and to make it even more so we have some new Edu K tracks that have been dropped into our inbox — Madame Mim sent us her new collaboration with Edu K a couple weeks ago, and I’ve been sitting on it. Woops. I have to say this […]

PLAY KETCHUP!!! (not the name of a new group, I’m afraid…)

So, the United Kingdom will break you for pounds however it possibly can. Just so you know. While you can't breathe without being charged 6 pounds and 45 pence, it's still a great spot and boy, can those dudes party! Yeah! Uhhh, back to the blog posts…..

The first installment is a colab type of ting-ting from a Berliner (Robot Koch) and a Texan (Cerebral Vortex) over tech'd out hip-hop infused electro beats, but in reverse. Robot Koch does muzak with lots of formations of people and has remixed everyone from Amanda Blank (duh…) to Rustie (dubstep dancefloor duke from Lucky Me crew in Glasgow) and Infinite Livez. (dude on Big Dada, Spank Rock's old label) Cerebral Vortex (or C.V. as I'll call him from here on, that name is formal as hell and too hard to type) is in 215:TFK with Buddy Leezle (TFK stands for The Freshest Kidz, no one will grow into an adult ever again.) and handles rap business like a true G would over this here track. Another dude would tell you that underground hip-hop is dead, but with names like Robot Koch and Cerebral Vortex that shit is a lie. Basically, rap is for balling dudes talking to girls instead of other 55th level World Of Warcraft players. (BTW:Did you know that they sell WOW stats on Ebay? Fools are too lazy to play a fucking role-playing game on the motherfucking computer. Rich people will spend money on anything…) If skaters can have 26 inch rims on their BMW's, we can talk to girls and wear expensive shoes and tight-ass pants, gotdamnit.

And you know a nickel has to hit you with the bonus round material, but this time it's a "one mo gain" from the kids I wrote about last time. BLAMMA! BLAMMA! hit me with their official remix of that Cazals song "Somebody, Somewhere" and the homies from L.V. (Las Vegas not Louie V.) Afghan Raiders sent me a mysterious track with Guilty Simpson (current hood rapper icon of Detroit, Michigan) entitled "Bandits Of Brooklyn" that they did for no particular reason. Sick…..

Hello from Brazil

We got an e-mail from Madame Mim in Brazil the other day, she sent over her new song with Edu K. I’m feeling this electronic headbanger alot. Madame Mim released her second album last year but if you, like me, missed that and want more just head over to her webpage or her MySpace. […]

Discobelle T-shirt (May)

We still got a couple of t-shirts left so this is your last chance to get one.
We were hoping on doing one t-shirt/month but logistic problems are going to make that impossible, so instead we’re going to try to make new t-shirts as often as we can. That being said, here is the new design! […]

JORDAN DARE:: out of order

Montreal’s JORDAN DARE has been and continues to be a staple in the world’s dance music scene. I ♥ NEON, where he is a resident, is one of the scene’s most essential parties. And as a producer, Dare kills it. His new track, Out of Order, continues his signature bouncy techno style. It’s like if Syclops and Jesper Dahlback started a late night jogging group with Dave Allen of Gang of Four. - I’ve been listening to this all morning!

Yuksek + Mika

Yuksek has proven his production skills time and time again. He can morph anything from rap (ghostface killah) to electro (Teenage Bad Girls) to indie (Primary1) and now bubblegum lolliPOP. He took this 'bob your head from side-to-side while you twirl your hair' syrupy sweet track from MIKA and turned it into a hardcandy piano track sprinkled with some distortion on top. Although I wish he hadn't let his orig 'Klanguage' band project fall by the wayside, I guess the bountiful remixes more than make up for it….
