In New York, there is a very high ratio of bands to people.
As I took my nightly stroll through the East Village a few weeks ago I reminisced about this particular part of the city; the passing cars whizzed and the street vendors yelled over the noise. As I looked to my left I saw a traditional New York couple dressed in his and her trenchcoats, they seemed like the Wall Street type. As I glanced over to my right there was a familiar face, faces rather, that I had become familiar with during my tween years, Flogging Molly. Not knowing what to do I hailed a taxi, I needed to get away from this band before I felt compelled to ask them questions. A yellow chariot came to a screeching halt just before me so I ran around the side and hopped in. There was a man sitting next to me in the backseat, he smiled, I pulled out my camera. It was Kap10kurt and our dangerseeking mission of the night had just begun. Check it out.
She’s coming back to San Francisco, and I’m DJing with her again. If you missed it last time, this is your second chance. It was amazing.

Ah, we might’ve posted The Black Ghosts once or twice or six times before… this mix is off their excellent new mixtape (which is available now on Beatport). The mixtape totally sums up their live show and is an acceptable substitute — though not replacement, of course!

Feist, So-called and Katie Moore, Mocky, Teki Latex, Katerine, Jamie Lidell, Abd Al Malik, Taylor Savvy, Princess Superstar and Ad Hawk. I'm so glad to hear a new release from Monk/Gomma Records. I think that Gomma is one of the most underrated (underexposed?) labels at the moment. Munk seems to be heavily contributing to this new resurgence of disco-inspired music. In fact, London NME mag called Monk the "German DFA". That's not so far-fetched seeing as how James Murphy lent his vocals to Monk's disco anthem, 'Kick Out the Chairs.'
The new MUNK album 'CLOUDBUSTER' will be released at the end of May 2008. It includes the following guests and remixers: ASIA ARGENTO, MATTY SAFER (THE RAPTURE), BUSY P, THE JUAN MACLEAN, THE AMAZING CLAY, KLAUS LEMKE, WHOMADEWHO.
This remix was done by MARAL SALMASSI & ZERO CASH and features the vocals of ASIA ARGENTO. That piano gets me every time….
