Henok Achido - Fly Fresh (video)
Video day here at Discobelle. We posted the actual track last week, check it.
BENI - AUSTRALIAN SUPERSTAR?

Couple new remixes from my good buddy from the other side of the world, BENI!!
BENI used to be one half of the DJ/Producer group RIOT IN BELGIUM and he's also a member of the infamous BANG GANG DJS. He lives in AUSTRALIA and has just inked a deal with the always lovely KITSUNE RECORDS.
I first met BENI when I brought him over to play CHECK YO' PONYTAIL as RIOT IN BELGIUM and we have remained great friends since. We keep running into each other all over the world and will soon be traveling together in the UK as part of the KITSUNE TOUR over there (I'll be playing drums for HEARTSREVOLUTION).
BENI has been hard at work making a bunch of new tracks and busting out some really amazing remixes! His debut single will be out soon (I've heard it, it's great). While we wait on the release of all this new stuff, good ole BENI has allowed IHEARTCOMIX to unleash one of his newest and finally let out a classic that only he and friends had access to before (I included it on my last mixtape).
Here they are, BENI's new remix of SNEAKY SOUND SYSTEM's 'Kansas City' and his re-edit of DIGITALISM's 'Pogo'.

Somewhere in Aspen

Luminfire who runs the music blog Ants in My Trance sent over his latest mix. If you are a faithful reader of Discobelle you might remember a his “We got mail” back in 2007. This time, instead of finding us the heat, he brings the heat with his brand new mix.
The mix is called *Somewhere in Aspen*. The title is a reference to a T-Pain
lyric off his song “Can’t Believe It”: “I’ll put you in the log cabin/Somewhere in Aspen.”
The actual mix has nothing to do with T-Pain, but I thought the concept was pretty funny. The mix itself is pop-oriented. It features a lot of new stuff as well as ’70s/’80s throwback.

Gameboy/Gamegirl - Fruit Salad

Ah, I was supposed to do this post this yesterday but was busy hanging out on the countryside and then dancing to Riva Starr and Duke Dumont. Anyways, here’s a remix by our favorite Swiss outfit, Round Table Knights, of new single “Fruit Salad” from the fun loving Australians in Gameboy/Gamegirl. Round Table Knights brings us a revamped shimmering partystarting piece of shuffling electropop complete with handclaps and chopped up vocals along with the occasional bleeps and beats.
The actual single dropped yesterday on Sweat It Out Records and features remixes by Bonde Do Role, Christopher Just, Hump Day Project, Hybrid Heights, Kevin Graves and also features the KillaQueenz bootleg of “Sweaty Wet/Dirty Damp” + the Boody B remix of the latter.

If you ever listened to Zebo you know what you are in for when I say that we got his latest remix of “Private - We’ve got some Breaking Up to do”. Nice one Zebo!

Hyperactive

The crazy Texan producer Bird Peterson - or Bird Heaterson as he should be called - put together a ravey breakfilled bass monster of a remix. It’s his take on the track “Hyperactive” from German duo Malente & Dex (the single was just released by Shir Khans label Exploited Records).

Kap10Kurt

Kap10Kurt is set to release “Mission Control” next week on 12 inch and digitially. SymbolOne provides a distorted MDMA flashback remix of “Mission Control.” For real, robot rock. This remix won’t be on the release but we fortunately have it special for your ears:

Our boy Sujinho from the almight Nossa crew returns with a new amazing mix. Suji just left NYC and moved to sunny Barcelona, Spain. This means that we might be lucky and get to see him soon maybe even in chilly Sweden.

SCION CD SAMPLER VOL 22: FOOL’S GOLD RECORDS REMIXED! PART 1

It's finally time for SCION to release their next mixtape/remix project and this time it's FOOL'S GOLD!
This is number 22 in SCION's series of Mixtapes (IHEARTCOMIX and LA RIOTS did the last 2). Somehow we were able to wrangle the exclusive to release unto you, the bloggosphere, all 8 remixes in what will be a 2 part post!
This mixtape is similar in format to the IHEARTCOMIX one. 8 brand new remixes of FOOL'S GOLD classics and new tracks, including songs by KID SISTER, KID CUDI, A-TRAK, NACHO LOVERS, JOKERS OF THE SCENE, TRACKADEMICS and TREASURE FINGERS. They enlisted the a-class remixing talents of SURKIN, CHROMEO, BLU JEMZ, JORI HULKKONEN, JOKERS OF THE SCENE, RUSKO, DJ SPINNA AND SHADOW DANCER. And mr. NICH CATCHDUBS himself took the tracks and threw in a little extra to make a kick ass mixtape. It's nothing short of pure gold, or shall I say, Fool's Gold. HA!
As per usual with all the SCION business, and like our mixtape before it, it is available FREE!! Be on the look out for it!
Here are 3 of the 8 remixes. Enjoy!

DETOUR FEST TOMORROW! TICKET GIVEAWAY!

I love Detour Festival. Though in October and well after everyone else has celebrated with their own "last party of summer," Detour always seems to truly mark the end of summer. This year their line-up includes headliners The Mars Volta and Gogol Bordello, as well as The Presets, Cut Copy, Black Lips, Hercules and Love Affair, Datarock, Adam Freeland, The Bloody Beetroots, Surkin, Para One, Guns N' Bombs, Peanut Butter Wolf, Nico Vega, Japanese Motors, The Mae Shi, We Are Wolves, Paparazzi, and more. On top of the great line-up, the weather is perfect, wether you are sick of it or not.
Anyways, to keep this short we are giving away two pairs of tickets. Just email tickets@iheartcomix.com with "I <3 Detour + IHEARTCOMIX" in the subject line to win. If you can't follow that simple instruction – you'd be surprise – you won't get them.
Not everyone will win, so here's a link to purchase. Just click HERE

Cousin Cole & Pocketknife mix

New weird but dope mix (done for the Allez Allez blog) from our Brooklyn boys Cousin Cole & Pocketknife (AKA the Flagrant Fowl posse) who are both staples here at Discobelle HQ. Here’s what Cole said about it:
“My section has a bunch of weird stuff I like, and Pocketknife’s has the same, but also with some new ’sclusives.”
Cousin Cole & Pocketknife - Party Allez Time (direct link)
TRACKLIST:
– Cousin Cole’s set –
Apocalyptica did a record of string covers of Metallica songs that was also the soundtrack for Your Friends & Neighbors — which was a particularly awkward first date movie for me a couple years ago.
Frank Hebly - De Tuinslangboogie
A fantastically weird record from a couple years ago that I know absolutely nothing about.
Rolling Stones - Can’t always get what you want (Soulwax Remix)
Graveleaf - The Crusade
Graveleaf is Mike B & Omar Doom’s joint project and “The Crusade” is a hell of a debut!
George Kranz - Bass Drum Ma Bass Drum
I hadn’t heard “Cosmic Disco? Cosmic Rock!” yet when I started working on this mix, but Baldelli was definitely an inspiration, especially in this section.
Axel Bauer - Cargo
Vastkustska Ryggdunkarsallskapet - Town Out of Order
An edit of “Stockholm” by Pugh Rogefeldt.
Sly Mongoose - Bad Pulse
Dude n Nem - Feet on Fire
Just the chorus but I had to throw some rap in. Love this song.
Gang - KKK (dub)
I only used the drums but this is a really great song.
Divine Edits - Sermon (Seratonin Edit)
No idea what the story is on this one, but it somehow makes cut up vocals seem totally 80s.
Matthew Dear - Sound and Vision
This version blew me away when I first heard it and I knew I had to figure out how to fit it in here.
Arbeid Adelt - Death Disco (Todd Terje edit)
Back to the dancefloor (somewhat). I’m a huge fan of Terje, and I was super psyched when he used my Bruce Springsteen remix in his mix for Resident Advisor.
Slab! - Mars on Ice
Photonz - Trembler (Discodeine remix)
Discodeine is Pilooski and Benjamin Morando. This track is just beautiful.
– Pocketknife’s Portion –
Yeasayer - sunrise (pocketknife’s rise and shine remix)
Soft circle - earthed (pocketknife’s terra cotta remix)
Gang gang dance - house jam (xxxchange remix)
Twilight circus dub sound system - kik
Liars - a visit from drum (pocketknife’s großer kessel remix)
Jandek - your other man (secret frequency crew remix)
Gameplayers - henri texier
Patti smith - ghost dance (pocketknife’s arms out remix)
Bat for lashes - trophy
His Majesty Andre

We’ve featured Italian producer His Majesty Andre in the past and here’s his latest mix. If you start out with the Scottie B remix of Weezys huge track “A Milli” then you definetely got us hooked and after that Andre just continues to deliver the goodness with an excellent selection and some smooth mixing. He also throws in a couple of his own exclusive tracks due out on the Cheap Thrills label (run by Joshua Harvey AKA Hervé). (Thanks to Nelly from Disturbed Beats)

David West (Style Of Eye remix)

Swedish techno producer David West hit us up to tell us about his latest release “Illectronics” (dropped about 2 weeks ago on Tolerant). Always great to hear from up and coming artists. He gave us this ethereal stormer of a remix from the ever excellent house/techno maestro Style Of Eye that makes you feel like you’re at some warehouse space in Berlin or maybe a beach party in Barcelona. Essential.

2 Hearts = 1

“Two Of Hearts” has ebbed and flowed out of pop culture for the past twenty plus years. And has been covered a few times along the way — the most famous cover being by Stacey Q.
Everyone’s favorite hipster pop queen Annie covered the track for her new album, Don’t Stop. The song got cut from the final tracklisting, and the album release got pushed to next year — but “Two Of Hearts” made it onto the Internets. The track itself is some noisy, clangy Richard X production that is probably the most original cover version out there…
We posted Rizzo and Pizzo’s cover two years ago. Two years later and Rizzo and Pizzo are no more, but their “Two Of Hearts” lives on in my iTunes collection:
Rizzo and Pizzo - “Two Of Hearts”
What, what. And of course blog darlings Purple Crush covered the track on their Welcome 2 Emo-Club EP. In many ways this is closer to Stacey Q’s version than the previous two mixes but it’s Purple Crush all the way:
Purple Crush - “Two Of Hearts”
Let’s not forget Sue Gatlin. This is the ORIGINAL which most people don’t even know. It definitely has more of a freestyle/electro track than a glossy synth-pop track which actually makes a lot of since given the lyrics. It wasn’t until a little while later that Stacey Q covered the song with Jon St. James producing and turned it into what everybody thinks of when you mention “Two Of Hearts.” Stacey Q is what we all grew up on, but something about the original is super charming and earnest. Freestyle always wins out in my book.
There are about 20 more covers out there. Some good, some not so good. Anyway. Hats off to Stacey Q:

Norwegian electropop princess Annie should have released her new album “Don’t Stop” by now but it looks like it’s been pushed back again. To satisfy our craving she decided to give out her cover of the Stacey Q track “Two Of Hearts”.
